On the evening of September 12, Thuy Linh played the Vietnam open quarter -final match with his opponent Nithiitikrai (Thailand).

Previously, Hai Dang had been eliminated in simple gentlemen, while Dinh Hoang-Dinh Manh had also been eliminated in double gentlemen. Thuy Linh has therefore become the last hope of Vietnamese badminton for this year’s tournament.

This match should have been easy for the local player, ranked 18th in the world and her 80th opponent. But this facility was only reached during the first set, when Thuy Linh largely imposed itself 21-10.

In the second set, the Badminton Vietnamese star suddenly dropped. She has made many regrettable mistakes, constantly losing points.

Nithiitikrai has also made a concentrated set, often with covers in difficult positions. This time, it was the Thai player’s turn to win 21-13.

At the start of the third set, Thuy Linh continued to experience difficulties with imprecise blows. Even when Nithiitikrai was tired, the Vietnamese could not easily compete.

There was a time when Thuy Linh led up to 10-5, but she then let her opponent come back to the scoring (15-18, 17-19). There was even a situation where she hesitated and did not conclude strongly, and Nithiitikrai waited for this moment to counter-attack.

But the Thai player finally gave in to a self-inflicted shot in the net. Thuy Linh won the third set 21-18, thus accessing the semi-finals of the Vietnam 2025 Open.

She got closer to a fourth consecutive victory. Thuy Linh will soon face Korean Kim Min Ji.
