The mayors of the twelve Drenthe municipalities give the starting signal for October children’s month on Wednesday 17 September. The mayor visits a school in his or her municipality, where the students have prepared a festive reception.
The mayor tells the children about the month full of free cultural activities and plays a cultural quiz with the students of the superstructure. October Children’s month is an annual event that offers children between the ages of 4 and 12 the opportunity to get to know art and culture in Drenthe in an accessible way.
During the month of October, children can participate for free in workshops in museums, visit performances in theaters and follow treasure hunts through mills and nature. The activities take place during the weekend, so that as many children and parents as possible can participate.
The mayors play a cultural quiz together with the students on Wednesday 17 September. The winner of this game is allowed in the photo with the mayor and receives the first copy of the October Children’s Month Program booklet.
This year, 95 cultural institutions are organizing children’s activities in October. The offer can be found in the program booklet that all students receive at school. The book is also available at the Tourist Information Points, Town Homes and Online Via www.kindermaand.nl.
October Children’s month is organized by the Art & Culture Foundation.
