Sinner vs Alcaraz: US Open Final – Live Updates & Scores

SINNER VS. Alcaraz: The battle for number 1 is fought in New York

The battle for the number one of the ATP world will live this Sunday its most decisive moment in more than a year, with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in front of the United States Open final.

Sinner, installed in number 1 for 65 weeks, the tournament began with 11,480 points, defending 2,000 as a current champion.

Alcaraz, which last year did not happen second round in New York, had 9,590 points, defending only 50.

The official ranking will not be updated until the tournament is over, but Alcaraz reaches the final virtually in the lead, with 10,840 points compared to 10,780 Sinner. The winner this afternoon in New York will receive another 700.

In this way, Alcaraz has already exceeded 10,000 points for the first time and could reach 11,540 if he proclaims himself champion.

“Number one is a good goal, but in this tournament we have tried not to give it much importance,” Alcaraz said at a press conference this Friday after sealing his pass to the final.

“This final is going to remind me of 2022, playing a ‘Grand Slam’ and number 1 will be like a ‘flashback’,” he added.

Sinner, on the other hand, said that the number one in the world is something that circumstantial, what is not thinking for the final. “There is a very difficult opponent to face Sunday and that will be our goal. We don’t talk about the ranking, that comes and goes.”

Sinner assaulted the world number 1 in June 2024, surpassing Novak Djokovic after Roland Garros. The transalpine has been 65 weeks in a row at the top of the ranking, a meritorious time, also taking into account that this 2025 spent three months.

Alcaraz has been number 1 in the world four times for a total of 36 weeks. The Murcian premiered as the best in the world in September 2022, after conquering in New York his first ‘Grand Slam’.

Throughout the next 12 months he lost it and recovered three times in a struggle with Djokovic, until he definitely gave it to September 2023.
