With four touchdown passes against his ex-team, Aaron Rodgers may have started his possibly last season as an NFL professional and led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a narrow victory against the New York Jets. At 34:32, Rodgers was heartily boosted by the fans at the Metlife stage, and the past two were under contract with the jets. He was never able to meet the high expectations, also because of a crack in the Achilles tendon in his first season, and the team separated from him. His successor in New York is Justin Fields, who was still active for the Steelers last season.
“A crazy game,” said Rodgers after the victory. He came to passports on a total of 244 yards and distributed his four touchdowns to four different teammates. Because the jets failed in the final quarter, the third and fourth touchdown were only 50 seconds. “I love the boys and I love the organization for getting me and giving me a chance. I’m really proud of my boys for how they played in the end,” said Rodgers. The 41-year-old is one of the biggest stars of the NFL and plays his 21st season.
