Adam Silver confirms an NBA investigation concerning the sports betting case involving Malik Beasley.
The NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed that the League conducts its own investigation into the alleged involvement of Malik Beasley in Paris activities. Speaking after the meeting of the Council of Governors of the NBA in New York on September 10, Silver recognized the investigating in progress, while refusing to give details.
“I will only say that the investigation is underway,” said Silver. “To my knowledge, there is also always an ongoing federal investigation concerning Malik Beasley. »»
While Beasley’s lawyer had indicated that his client was no longer affected by federal procedure, Silver said that the NBA would continue to examine the case independently. “We will deal with any element that will be presented to us in his file,” he added.
Federal investigation and suspicion
Malik Beasley’s troubles started in the 2023–2024 season, when he was playing at the rear station for the Milwaukee Bucks. In January 2024, reports on a strong Paris activity concerning Beasley statistics aroused suspicion. According to ESPN, unusual bets on its total rebounds have sparked a wider survey.
Federal investigators examined if Beasley had participated in manipulation of betting. His lawyer, Steve Haney, assured in August that, although his client was questioned, he was not the subject of any charges.
To this were added the player’s financial problems. As reported ESPN In August 2025, he was expelled from a rented accommodation for unpaid rents and had money to a marketing agency, a dentist and a hairdresser of celebrities. These financial difficulties have fueled speculations on its possible motivations.
Despite this case, Malik Beasley would have been in discussions with the Detroit Pistons for a multi -year contract estimated at $ 42 million. According to Sports Illustrated, these negotiations were suspended following the accusations of Paris.
What follow -up for Malik Beasley?
While the Los Angeles Times Reported in August that Malik Beasley was no longer considered a federal target, the NBA’s decision to continue her own investigation shows that the file is far from closed.
The outcome could have major repercussions on Beasley’s NBA career as well as its future potential contracts.
For the moment, Adam Silver’s statements confirm that the League takes these accusations seriously, but no calendar has been communicated as to the conclusion of the investigation.
