The confrontation, which opens the night round of the competition, marks the reunion among tennis players. At Halle ATP 500, held in June, Germany, Cobolli won from a turn, by 2 sets to 1, the carioca.

At 19, João Fonseca is the youngest tennis player to be summoned for competition and represents Brazil for the World team. In addition to him, five other athletes are on the team, representing Argentina, the United States and Australia. There is also the Europa team, with six Europeans.

About laver cup

The competition is divided into two groups with six athletes each: Time Europa, only with Europeans, and Time Mundo, with the presence of tennis players from other continents.

The top three tennis players placed in the ATP simple ranking, the World team and the Europa team, are automatically invited to Laver Cup. If the athlete chooses not to participate, the next ranking is called.

The games take place from Friday (19) to Sunday (21), with four matches each day, three in the simple key and one of pairs. The score varies per day, the victories on the first day of competition are worth a point, in the second, two, and in the third, three. The first team that reaches 13 points becomes champion.

The matches do not count for the ATP ranking. To date seven editions of the competition have been held. Team Europa comes out ahead, there are five titles against two from the World team.
