A few days after the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, the Royal Palace of Milan has turned into a Ferrari cheering temple thanks to the Drive to Monza event. The protagonists Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, welcomed by thousands of fans in a festive eve atmosphere.
“I am very happy to be here. Seeing so many Ferrari fans makes me proud. We will try to repeat last year’s success, even if it won’t be simple,” Leclerc said to Sky Sport’s microphones. The Monegasque pilot, already winner in Monza in 2024, underlined how special it is to run in front of the home audience: “I never get used to the affection of our fans. Every time we come in these parts he feels a unique cheering. We will give everything this year: I want to relive the joy of being on the podium of Monza with all the fans below”.
Enthusiasm for the stars also for Lewis Hamilton, in his first season in Ferrari. “It’s something incredible. There are many people. I love to be here. It is special to be a Ferrari driver,” said the seven times world champion. Then, in perfect Italian, he exploded the square with a thunderous “Forza Ferrari!”.
Hamilton recalled his previous victories in Monza with other teams, admitting that conquering the triumph with the Cavallino would be a whole story: “Winning with Ferrari, as Charles did last year, must be crazy. In Monza it is always the race with the minimum aerodynamic load, I will give everything to do well”.
However, the British will have to deal with a penalty of five positions on the grid, which will make its race to the podium more complicated. But the embrace of the Milan fans, meanwhile, has already made fuel to both drivers in view of the Monza weekend.
In Monza a special anniversary
In Monza Ferrari he will celebrate his history in a special way, starting from 50 years from the victory – which arrived on the temple of speed on September 7, 1975 – of the first world title of Niki Lauda with the Ferrari stable.
“Like every year, we impatiently await the time to take to the track in Monza, this year even more, since we come from the Zandvoort race in which we have not achieved the desired results despite having shown that we have the step to do well. Being surrounded by the passion of our fans is an extraordinary motivation for the whole team, which pushes us to put the soul in everything we do. Put aside the emotions and focus on the perfect execution of the weekend, from the first free practice round to the last of Sunday’s race “had explained Fred Vasseur, Team Principal Ferrari.
