European Football: Play & Compete

Danny Koevermans believes that NEC Nijmegen can participate in a European ticket this season. The former footballer announced this in ESPN football talk. On Saturday the Nijmegenaren will compete against reigning Dutch champion PSV.

NEC won the first three duels in the new Eredivisie season, but lost the last match against Fortuna Sittard (3-2). Karim El Ahmadi thinks the people of Eindhoven will get enough opportunities. “I would try to get Veerman to get the ball and make many depth running actions. If NEC also started playing with Sano in the back, they will give away many opportunities. They have done that almost every game.”

Koevermans is very pleased with NEC and thinks that the club can rise to great heights this season. “We’re going to see if they are going to nestle in the top five. If it continues if it goes, it could just be. Just like with Utrecht last year, that NEC will also get a lot of points and will participate for European football.”

El Ahmadi joins those words. The former footballer is also very curious whether the defense of PSV is standing against the attacking game of NEC. “You also saw that PSV had difficulty with how Telstar put pressure on them and that they do the same. I am curious how PSV deals with that.”
