BRATISLAVA. Greek basketball players scored their first loss in their fourth meeting at the European Championship.
In Tuesday’s C-group meeting, they succumbed to Bosnia and Herzegovina 77:80 in Limassole and Herzegovina in Cyprus.
The Greeks were restful of their main star Jannis Anthetokunmp and, despite the loss, they did not lose the chance of the first place in the group. They will play against Spain in a direct fight for it.
In the second match of the Italians, the drama overcame the Spaniards 67:63. The D-group in Katowice, Poland, decided on the complete four advancing, in the eight-finals the French, Poles, Israelis and Slovenians will be presented.
The Spaniards led 31 seconds before the end by point 63:62, but then turned the score Marco Sliska from the penalty throws. By the end of the duel, the Italians changed three other six, the Spaniards did not score and before the last duel in the group still are not sure of the procedure.
In addition, they are waiting for the Greeks, who without a relaxing Jannis Anthetokunmp came to an unexpected loss with Bosnia and Herzegovina for a chance to secure their first place in the group.
After two losses in the opening two duels, there will be no Slovenians with Star Luke Dončič in the eight -final round. The fight with Iceland managed 92:89, the Los Angeles Lakers scored 26 points.
For the first time in the tournament in the home hall, the Poles had to bend in front of the opponent when they were not enough for silver medalists from last year’s French Olympics 76:83. The pivot Guerschon Yabusele was 36 points.
