The victory of the Blues against Ukraine (2-0) will have quickly been overshadowed. Wounded during this success, Ousmane Dembélé (severe lesion of the right ischi-leg) and Désiré Doué (right calf lesion) will be absent approximately six and four weeks respectively, PSG said on Saturday in a medical statement.
Packages that fall poorly for Paris Saint-Germain which will start its Champions League campaign. And yet, PSG had warned the FFF on the medical situation of several of its players.
In a letter addressed to Philippe Diallo and dated September 4 – the day before the match – that we were able to consult, Paris was surprised by the presence of Dembélé and Lucas Hernandez in selection, while the medical staff of the Ile -de -France club had made an unfavorable opinion for their presence with the Blues.
The French team staff are accused of having made a “unilateral” decision, without “solicitation or validation” of the club. The result is, in the eyes of the European champions, “an unjustified risk taking”.
Several precedents pointed out
In the mail, PSG illustrates its remarks by three recent cases of lack of communication from the French Football Federation: Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola in June 2025 as well as Warren Zaïre-Emery in September 2024. Each time, Paris would have learned the physical seeds of its internationals directly by the concerned and not by the French selection.
Didier Deschamps and his staff, for their part, still argued that the decision to call and play a player “at risk” was made after exchanging with the concerned.
But dissatisfaction is all the greater for Paris Saint-Germain as its relations with the other federations are more fluid, according to the club. The champion of France and Europe therefore requires “the immediate implementation of a formalized medical communication protocol” and “respect for a reinforced precautionary principle in the summons and the use of players”.
In a statement published this Saturday evening, the Parisian team confirmed the duration of the absences of Dembélé and Goué which will miss the shocks against Atalanta (September 17) and Barcelona (October 1) in C1 at least, as well as that against Marseille in Ligue 1 (September 21).
