Congo-Brazzaville Judo: Brazzaville Dominates Nationals

The Congolese Judo Federation and Associated Disciplines (Fécoju-Da) led by Me Neyl Francis Ata organized, from September 27 to 28 at the Nicole-Oba gymnasium in Brazzaville, the 2025 edition of the national championships. At the end of the fierce fighting, the athletes of the capital league dominated in all categories and versions.

For two days, the Nicole-Oba gymnasium was stormed by an audience who came to support the athletes. Nearly 350 of them, including 118 ladies and 198 gentlemen participated in the competition. They came from eight departmental leagues, namely Pointe-Noire/Kouilou, Niari, Bouenza, Pool, Brazzaville, Plateau, Cuvette and Sangha. Among the ladies, the categories chosen turned between -48 kg up to + 78 kg while on the side of the gentlemen, it was the -60 kg up to +100 kg that were in the spotlight.

In the general classification, the Brazzaville League obtained 13 gold medals, 10 in silver and 11 in bronze. That of Pointe-Noire/Kouilou was satisfied with a gold medal, two in silver and three in bronze. The bowl arrived in 3rd place with a silver medal and another bronze, while the Sangha could only have two in bronze. The departments of Pool and Niari shared 5th place with a bronze medal each. Bouenza and set must still learn since they have won nothing despite the will of their athletes. In terms of technical results, the Brazzaville judokas dominated, once again, in all categories.

These junior and seniors championships in the female and male versions brought the athletes of the different leagues which were made up of departmental teams. Against all expectations, the 2025 edition of the largest competition in Congolese judo has drawn a new national table in terms of ranking. In most categories, the old and regulars of the podium have been downgraded. The emerging talents have imposed themselves by their dynamism and their professionalism.

This competition is part of the federation’s annual activity program. President Neyl Francis Ata, in his word, has invited all the actors of this combat sport to already put themselves at work in order to effectively prepare the next deadlines, in particular the international competitions that point to the horizon.
