The star defensive back returned to the field on Monday after missing time since August 10 due to what head coach Mike Vrabel described as a minor injury, according to reporting from the Associated Press. González put on his helmet and pads again on Tuesday for the team’s final practice session in Foxborough, Massachusetts, before traveling to Cleveland for New England’s preseason finale scheduled for Thursday night.
When questioned by reporters about whether his absence stemmed entirely from a minor injury or involved ongoing contract discussions between his representatives and the front office, González declined to elaborate. “I’m not going to get into that. I’m here now. So it is what it is,” González said.
New England’s projected starters sat out the opening two preseason matchups, leaving questions about how much, if at all, key contributors will feature in the final exhibition game against the Browns.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Patriots vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf reiterated that the team’s primary goal remains finalizing a historic deal with the young defender.
