AA Gent brings in Michal Skoras for a shot and records it until 2029. The Polish international has exactly the profile that Ivan Leko was looking for: making speed, pressing and meters. Club Brugge stacks flank players and now takes a substantial depreciation loss on a purchase of 6 million. If Skoras does what Leko asks, this will be a huge win for the Buffalos and a huge pain for Club Brugge.

Skoras was in the basement
Is he a bargain or cat in a bag? AA Gent picks Michal Skoras for 1.8 million and immediately records him until 2029. Skoras is a winger of 25, Polish international even, that at Club Brugge No further than 76 minutes this season got.
Blauw-Zwart paid 6 million in Lech Poznan in 2023; Today they take their (heavy) loss. The Buffalos smell value where Club mainly saw ballast in it. Smart? Or again such a transfer that knocks on paper and watered down on the field?
The timing is no coincidence. Club Brugge stacked the flanks. First Forbs, then again Mamadou Diakhon for around 8 million. Squad Management is simple: whoever is new and expensive is at the top of the pecking order. Skoras moved down, into the basement.
In 90 matches for club he arrived at 6 goals and 8 assists, he took a title and a cup – without playing a minute in the final. He has speed, grinta, polyvalence, but at the end of the day actions count in the box and balls between the posts. That was too little.
Leko asks, Leko gets
It sounds different at AA Gent. Ivan Leko had been asked “salt and pepper” for weeks and he now got it from Bruges. “Speed, energy, polyvalence,” it sounded. Skoras wonderfully in what Leko wants: Press as one block, eating meters, winning duels. Gent is thirteenth but the game lives again; It contains recognisability.
Hein Vanhaezebrouck recently put it razor -sharp: putting pressure forward is one, but just as quickly decreasing is a drama for many midfielders. Just there a flank with turbo and discipline can make the difference. The question is: is Skoras that guy who also sprints backwards at 100%? No two steps, but full bin back.

The context at Ghent helps. Fifteen departures, but no Europe and therefore room to invest in a targeted way. Almost 25 million came in; “Only a few million” went out. The five incoming players (Kjell Peersman not included) all play. Still it remained on the flanks.
Leko did not get rid of it: he wants competition on every line. A back left, a midfielder, a winger. The winger is now there. And for 1.8 million you do not buy a finished product in this market, but a profile. You buy speed more expensive, experience even more expensive. Skoras has the first for sure, he has to earn the second here.
Ghent may dream, Club can have pain
This is a signal for Club Brugge. The Belfius Basecamp is often a warm bath for flank players, but with Skoras it didn’t work. That is not a shame, not every transfer turns gold, but it is a hefty loss.
That club brought in at the same time, shows the direction: even more power and potential on the outside, rather one talent too much than one too little. Only: you will let a 25-year-old international leave for a rival. If it does explode in Ghent, it will hurt in Bruges. And to be honest: for ‘Máár’ 1.8 million, Ghent has the right to dream.

What can the Buffalos expect? No noa long-tricks, but walking capacity, looking up the line and depth. He is a player who lives in clarity: winning the ball, opening, and going.
Leko’s shock therapy asks for such profiles, but it will only be a success when Skoras exchanges his eternal changeable for repeatable actions: five identical sprints, five times the same passes, five times. And not once “wow” and then three matches disappear. Consistency is his working point.
