The “Opinions” mentioned that special policies for economic development of events were issued. Yang Xuezhu, Director of the Sports Economics Department of the General Administration of Sports, said in response to a question from a reporter from 21st Century Business Herald about the event economy that the competition performance industry is an important part of the sports industry, with great market potential and broad development prospects, and plays an important role in promoting consumption, expanding investment, and promoting economic growth. In recent years, sports events have been held in full swing. Taking Shandong as an example, in the first half of this year, 739 events of more than 500 people were held in the province, bringing direct economic benefits of 4.6 billion yuan and indirect economic benefits of 11.3 billion yuan.

The General Administration of Sports of China continues to promote the economic development of the event in five aspects.

First, strengthen policy development. Accelerate the formulation of the “15th Five-Year Plan” sports industry development plan and make overall planning and deployment for the economic development of the event. Research the economic policy documents of sports events, further gather the joint efforts of departments, and resolve development obstacles. Deepen the work of sports events to drive consumption monitoring and testing points, and fully reflect the effectiveness of the event economy.

The second is to promote the holding of events.Focus on the “gold content” of the league, promote the construction of professional football, basketball, and volleyball leagues, and cultivate independent IP events such as table tennis, badminton, and tennis.Continue to hold high-level youth event activities such as the three national youth games and track and field games to improve competitiveness and influence. Coordinate and guide local governments to introduce international events, and hold international high-level events such as the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, F1 China Grand Prix, etc.

The third is to improve the audience experience. Support the innovative application of new technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things in the field of events,Encourage the development of intelligent sports products and services that improve the viewing experiencebroaden the channels for watching games and improve the offline and online viewing experience. In conjunction with relevant departments, the number of people available for sale (issuance) was further increased, and the attendance rate of the “Soviet Super League” stadium continued to be high. Nanjing Olympic Sports Center set a new record for the number of people watching the game on site for three consecutive times. Strengthen the construction of the talent team, cultivate a group of outstanding professional managers and commentators, and strengthen the volunteer team. Optimize and implement management of sports event name system and other management, cooperate with cracking down on illegal and criminal acts such as reselling event tickets, and create a comfortable viewing environment for the audience.

Fourth, promote the integrated development of events. Dig deep into the integration potential of events and culture, and launch more event cultural and creative projects, figures, digital collections, etc. that highlight the Chinese style. Promote the deep integration of events and tourism, give full play to the characteristics of “watching games on one day and staying for multiple days”, amplify the “ticket stub economy” effect, and tighten the humanistic link between cities and events. Promote the coordinated development of events and business, promote a new model that combines competitions and exhibitions, embed local “local specialties” sales, and make the event more interesting.

Fifth, keep the red line of events and activities safe management. Strictly implement the administrative license for “Holding high-risk sports events” and strengthen comprehensive governance of key areas such as competition style and discipline, and abnormal “fan circle” culture. Strengthen the formulation and revision of standards in key areas such as event operations, venue facilities, and safety management. Insurance institutions are encouraged to innovatively launch event insurance, event liability insurance, event cancellation insurance and other event insurance to improve the security of events.
