Bodø/Glimt: New Billion-Kroner Arena Plan

On Thursday, the Norwegian success club Bodø/Glimt had an extra -annual meeting to vote to build a new arena. The outcome? 192, yes, one voted no. It reports TV 2.

– It’s indescribable. It is a fantastic decision for the club to have the opportunity to grow and take the next step into the future. It is fantastic that the members are with us in this, says Glim’s chairman Inge Henning Andersen to TV 2.

According to TV 2, Bodø/Glimt announced at the annual meeting that 78 percent of the funding already exists and that the cost of construction is estimated to land at 1.15-1.26 billion of Norwegian kronor (corresponding to SEK 1.09-1.19 billion).

The start of construction is planned to start in mid -October this year and the idea is that the new stadium will be completed by August 2027. Before that, the municipality will also say its own.

The project, which goes by the name “Arctic Arena”, will result in 10,000 spectators being able to witness Bodø/Glimt in place. The club has its residence north of the Arctic Circle.

According to TV2, the fresh building will fulfill all Uefa’s arena requirements.

Bodø/Glimt, who this season qualified for the Champions League, is currently playing their home games at Aspmyra Stadion. The arena was built in 1966 and holds 8200 spectators.Photo: Bodø/Glimt.
