After the weakest World Cup qualification in the association’s history, the mood among the Brazilian national team should not be the best anyway. Another incident is now causing resentment.
According to the Spanish Sport Barcelona attacker Raphinha is said to be angered by national coach Carlo Ancelotti because he was used in the 0-1 defeat against Bolivia.
Although Brazil was already qualified for the World Cup, Ancelotti brought the offensive player around 30 minutes before the end to avert the embarrassing bankruptcy – without success, the Selecao still lost.
Ancelotti protects real stars – Raphinha has to play
Now the Italian coach is accused that he prefers his ex-club Real Madrid because he was protecting the real stars Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo and Éder Militao in the qualification games against Chile (3-0) and Bolivia. While these could rest, Barcas Raphinha had to go in the games for a total of 108 minutes.
Added to this is the enormous burden: the game against Bolivia took place at a height of over 4000 meters. Raphinha then complained about the circumstances.
“If a team forces you to play at a height of 4000 meters to win the game, it harms the other team quite a bit in my opinion,” Spanish media quote the 28-year-old.
Brazil use with consequences for Barca?
And further: “And then, in a balanced game like ours, the referee invented a penalty. I think that makes our game more difficult on the square.”
For Barca, the situation could also be tricky: Raphinha has so far been in the starting XI in all three league games. The duel with Valencia is waiting on Sunday – then it shows whether the international matches have left their mark.
