It is very Swedish at the top in the PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Ludvig Åberg was in lonely leadership, but was petitioned to shared second place by Hideki Matsuyama.
It seems to be a really nice Swedish golf weekend in the DP World Tours flagship competition in England.
Ludvig Åberg went out on the second round in shared leadership, but started with couples and bogey and slipped after Viktor Hovland. The 25-year-old then played, and was in lone lead for five birdies for a while.
In hole 17, however, a bogey came, while Matsuyama stood for an eagle and took over first place with a total of twelve under par. Åberg is now divided second on –11 together with Justin Rose and Viktor Hovland.
Åberg is the only Swede selected in Europe’s Ryder Cup team for the battalion against the United States in two weeks.
Alex Norén followed up the first round’s five under par with an almost equally good effort on Friday. A slightly too short birdie putt on the last hole meant that he had to settle for four during the day, which currently gives a shared sixth place on –9.
Joakim Lagergren is not far behind, thanks in large part to his even better first round. Despite “only” one under par on Friday, Lagergren is only five strokes from the management with half the competition completed.
Simon Forsström (+2) and Marcus Kinhult (+6) will miss the qualifying limit.
