2025 Basketball Hall of Fame: A Historic Class?

Uncasville, Connecticut, USA (AP) – The Basketball Hall of Basketball has can boast of a series of prominent generations since he honored his first in 1959.

Although he admits not to be impartial, Dwight Howard, who will be induced in 2025, believes that there is a valid argument that this year’s five individual players on the male and female side could form one of the best groups in history.

Howard will join Carmelo Anthony at the ceremony of Saturday night along with the 2008 United States male team in which they played, which was known as the “Redemption team” after winning gold at the Beijing Games that summer. They will share the stage with the WNBA players Sue Bird, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles.

“You get together, you put all in a team and how are you going to stop?” Howard said Friday.

Together, the quintet of players entering as individuals-Bird, Moore, Fowles, Howard and Anthony-were part of 11 WNBA champions teams, accumulate 15 Olympic gold medals, made 37 appearances in the Ideal All-Nba or All-Wnba team and were chosen to the star game 45 times.

Others who will be exalted will be the coach of the Bulls of Chicago and twice champion of the NCAA, Billy Donovan, the general managing partner of the Meami Heat, Micky Arison, and the veteran NBA referee Danny Crawford.

The fact that Moore, Bird and Fowles enter the meeting together is appropriate.

First, it will mark the first time that three WNBA players enter the Hall of Fame in the same year. They are also connected in other ways.

Moore and Bird finished their university careers in UConn with two school titles of the NCAA each. Fowles was also fundamental in the last two of Moore’s four WNBA championships with the Minnesota Lynx.

Being in Connecticut to receive their official jackets and rings from the Hall of Fame on Friday was also symbolic for Bird and Moore.

“I was looking and thought, ‘I think I’m going to choose Uconn,” Bird said. “It’s like, Maya, Diana (Tauurasi), myself, Stewie (Breanna Stewart), Rebecca Lobo. That is a very good initial quintet.”

For Anthony, who never won a NBA title but obtained three gold Olympic medals, a place in the living room is the last one of a series of achievements during his career that, according to him, were unimaginable when he broke out for the first time on the national scene as a 19 -year -old university student, taking Syracuse to the NCAA championship in 2003.
