MONTE BERICO: Volunteers for Portici cleaning for 8 September

A morning of work, sweat and civic sense at the arcades of Monte Berico. As per tradition, in view of the feast of September 8, Alpine, American soldiers, volunteers of the Order of Malta and Palladio Baseball have joined the forces to restore luster to one of the most symbolic places in the city, also intervening on the square of Vittoria and on the monument at 8 eagles (Here the official note).

The mayor Giacomo Possamai, who thanked the participants, arrived to greet the volunteers. «It is always a pleasure – he said – to see people who give their free time to make arcades more welcoming. It is a job with a strong symbolic value, because it combines the Alpine troops, the Americans, the volunteers of the Order of Malta and, this year, also the boys of Palladio Baseball. A gesture of great generosity towards the Vicenza community ».

The team was made up of twenty -five alpine from the Monte Berico groups, Laghetto Polegge and San Lazzaro, all of the “Monte Pasubio” section, coordinated by Roberto Tovo; about forty US soldiers led by the garrison commander Army Garrison ItalyVaughn Strong; Four men of the Order of Malta; Seven Palladio Baseball volunteers, including the city councilor for the environment Sara Baldinato.

The intervention began at 8 in the morning and ended around noon, with a part of the equipment made available by AMCPS.

A day that, in addition to cleaning, has strengthened links between generations, associations and different cultures, renewing the meaning of the feast of September 8: not only devotion, but also collective commitment for the city.
