Icardi vs Mourinho: Istanbul Rivalry Heats Up After Fenerbahce Coach Axed
The rivalry between Mauro Icardi & Jose Mourinho’s taken another dramatic turn. Following Fenerbahce’s announcement on Friday that the Portuguese coach had been dismissed after string of poor results, the Galatasaray striker wasted no time in mocking his long time adversary.
The feud between the pair started months ago when Mourinho accused Galatasaray of benefiting from refereeing errors. Icardi, angered by the comments, fired back on social media calling the coach “crybaby” & sharing photo of himself sleeping with the caption:
“I sleep well knowing we’ll deliver the title to Galatasaray”
Soon after the sacking, Icardi posted photos of Galatasaray’s league title celebrations with coach Okan Buruk .. a symbolic gesture highlighting his triumph in the fierce Istanbul rivalry.
Mourinho’d previously sparked controversy by sharing image of handball incident involving Galatasaray player sarcastically writing:
“Congratulations to the handball team on reaching the semifinals”
In response Icardi escalated the war of words while Mourinho later brushed him off in press conference labeling the striker “irrelevant”..
