René van der Gijp is lyrical about Kees Smit. The analyst thinks that the young midfielder of AZ should make a transfer to PSV.
Nineteen -year -old Smit has excelled in the last few weeks at the Orange Under 19. “It was nice of that Kees Smit, huh. That you will be damn at a European Championship under 19 player of the tournament,” responds Van der Gijp in Kieftjansenegmondgijp. “Do you know how handsome that is? With England, Germany and Spain.”
Van der Gijp tips PSV an attempt to take an attempt. “You would almost say, if you have lost that Tillman almost for 40 million euros, do it. Even though AZ requires 20 or 23 million euros for Smit,” the analyst judges. “Because that is also better for that boy. Because AZ is going to lose once at home from Willem II or NEC. That is inherent to AZ.”
The pressure at PSV is much larger than at AZ, the former professional football player notes. “You don’t have a loss of face at AZ. If AZ loses at home from Willem II, we say Monday: can happen. But if PSV loses at home to Willem II, we say that that should not happen,” he explains. “So that is such an incredibly big difference.”
