Since its creation in 1903, the large loop has seen the coronation of many cyclists with very different styles. Over the past ten years, names have imposed themselves and have marked their imprints like Tadej Pogacar or Jonas Vingegaard. Back on the last ten runners to have won the Tour de France.
2024: Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates)
The hat -trick for Pogacar. By winning six stages and taking the yellow jersey from the 4th stage, Pogacar won a third time on the Tour de France and supports his domination. Vingegaard is not far behind and finished second at only 6 minutes and 17 seconds, just a few months after having undergone a big fall which perforated the lung to him.
2023: Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma)
And two for the Danish. And this time, of match there will not really have been. If the two men stood in a few seconds for the first two weeks, Vingegaard then knocked out Pogacar in the last stages, in the Chrono de Combloux and the Col de la Loze.
2022: Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma)
This time it is the Danish Jonas Vingegaard who takes over and won the duel between the two cadors of the peloton. He finished 2 shoes in front of Pogacar. Geraint Thomas, again, completes the podium.
2021: Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates)
The Slovenian doubles the bet in 2021 by winning his second round in France ahead of Jonas Vingegaard. Again, he won three jerseys: the yellow jersey, the white jersey of the best youngster and the jersey for the best climber.
2020: Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates)
POGACAR (UAE Emirates) explodes the Bernal record by winning the big loop at 21, after having overthrown Primoz Roglic during the last time trial. A brilliant victory since he finished in Paris by winning the three jerseys (yellow jersey, red polka dot jersey of the best climber and white jersey for the best young).
2019 : Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers)
The 22 -year -old Colombian notably takes advantage of the abandonment of Thibaut Pinot to win his first Tour de France, in front of the indestructible Geraint Thomas. He became the youngest winner of the Tour de France with Pogacar and the first Colombian to win.
2018 : Geraint Thomas (Sky)
Another winner for the Sky training. Geraint Thomas succeeds Froome (who finished 3rd) and thus becomes the first Welshman to achieve this feat. It is the Dutchman Tom Dumoulin who finishes 2nd.
2017 : Christopher Froome (Sky)
Froome continues a third victory in a row. But this time, he does not win any stage and imposes himself on the large loop by being the most regular. Romain Bardet ends again on the podium, 3rd, behind the Colombian Rigoberto Uran.
2016 : Christopher Froome (Sky)
Another victory for the Briton. The Sky leader largely dominates the Tour de France, finishing with more than 4 ‘ahead of the French Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale) and Nairo Quintana.
2015 : Christopher Froome (Sky)
This second victory on the Tour, after that of 2013, made Froome (Sky) the first Briton to win the famous race twice. It wins after just over 84 hours of racing and marks the large loop of its footprint.
