(Kaohsiung, 1st) Malaysia U25-year-old women’s basketball team narrowly defeated Taiwan’s Fo Guang University team 75-74 on the first group match of the Fo Guang Cup International Basketball Invitational on Tuesday, and welcomed a good start in Group A.
The two sides played hard to distinguish in the first quarter, and they scored evenly with 20 to 20. Lian Wenling scored 9 points and 3 rebounds in a single quarter. Malaysian team Chen Qiyu scored 5 points. In the second quarter, Chen Xinjie scored 9 points for Malaysia and grabbed 4 rebounds. Lian Wenling added 6 points to the home team. At the end of the first half, Malaysia led 38-37.

Malaysia will face Japan Sports University in the second round of the group tomorrow, which will easily defeat the Philippine National University 95-70 in the first game. It will not be easy for Malaysia to win.
