Chile Basketball: FIBA AmeriCup 2025 & State Support

Santiago, Jul 1 (Xinhua) – Chile has had an active state policy in Celebration of Women’s Americanup 2025, the most important continental basketball tournament in the region that is being carried out in the South American country, the president of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Américas, Fabián Borro, highlighted on Tuesday.

At a press conference, the manager highlighted the level of organization of Chile as headquarters and announced that FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League will also be held in the nation, in the city of Austral of Punta Arenas, next July.

“Here all wills have joined. There is an active policy of the State, a compromised federation and a visible legacy such as the CECO (Center for Collective Sports, in Santiago, the Chilean capital), which leaves us pleasantly surprised,” he said.

Borro deepened that “there are sports results, but also the institutional work: generate infrastructure, organize events, mobilize communities. And that Chile is doing it with conviction.”

He added that this is the most important tournament of women’s selections in the continent and highlighted the joint work between the State, the Chilean Basketball Federation (FEBACHILE) and the National Sports Ecosystem in Chile, a country that “has been up to it with an organizational level that we admire deeply.”

He also officialized that the Chilean city of Punta Arenas will host the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2025, a key competition on the route to the U22 World Cup and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the FIBA explained.

“Today we see how this bet translates into international tournaments, such as this American and now in the southern southern continent with the Nations League. This is the result of sustained work,” said Borro.

The American American 2025 started in Chile on June 28 and will run until July 6 at CECO, in the National Stadium Park, part of the infrastructure that the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games bequeathed.

The favorite teams to win this tournament are Brazil, current champion, Canada and the United States (already classified); The champion will achieve a direct quota for the 2026 World Cup in Berlin, Germany ..
