After the setbacks at Jamie Gitens, Luis Díaz and Nico Williams, FC Bayern again focuses on Marcus Rashford. The English international could become a serious option for Munich.
A few months ago, the mere thought of selling Marcus Rashford in Manchester would have caused outrage – today, saying goodbye to the own plant seems quite realistic. After his loan to Aston Villa and persistent tensions with United coach Ruben Amorim, the left wing is apparently faced with the jump. And: FC Bayern senses his chance.
As transfer insider Christian Falk reports, Bayern Rashford has been observing for a long time. “It fits perfectly into the Bayern profile, can play both on the left and in the center,” says Falk. So far, Rashford has been classified as too expensive-but after the options Luis Díaz and Nico Williams have stalled, the 27-year-old suddenly focused on again.
Rashford: step backwards or undiscovered potential?
But it is also clear: Rashford would not be 1: 1 replacement for Leroy Sané. The numbers are currently speaking against the Englishman. In the past 365 days it was clearly behind Sané in important categories such as Expected Goals, shot templates or penalty area campaigns. A statistical step backwards – at least at the moment.
But at Aston Villa, Rashford recently showed up form again: four goals and six templates in 17 missions speak for themselves. And in 2022/23 he also delivered an absolute top season with 42 goal participations in 56 games. A player with world-class potential that could bloom again under Vincent Kompany.
The price of around 45 million euros, which Manchester United calls according to the English media, would be feasible – however, the problem could be the lavish content of the striker, which is currently to be over 20 million euros annually.
After the burst hopes at Williams and Díaz, Rashford would probably not be a desired solution, but possibly a clever alternative
Spicy: In addition to Bavaria, Rashford is also a real alternative at FC Barcelona. According to rumors, the former English international tends to move to Spain.
