The major sporting event with the Austrian lotteries as a presenting partner led from 18-22. July in Tyrol the whole variety of domestic sport in mind.
A shop window for the versatility of sport in Austria – with this goal, the Sport Austria Finals 2020 was created. A claim that was redeemed at this year’s event in Innsbruck on Sunday in Innsbruck. Top performance and some records marked the over 250 title decisions, in which around 7,000 athletes: inside competed in 37 sports. More than 57,000 visitors: Inside, the competitions followed free of charge, including a new maximum value.
The Austrian lotteries have been the Sport Austria Finals since 2024. The company has thus expanded its massive commitment in domestic sports with a significant component. For Erwin van Lambaart, General Director of the Austrian Lotteries, the importance of the event goes far beyond the competitions: “It is great that Sport Austria Finals have an offer for all generations. I have not yet known some of the sports represented a few months ago. With our sponsorship, we also support innovations in sports and promote the movement, which in turn is essential for health.”
On the four days of the major sporting event, sports that otherwise received little media attention were able to present themselves to a larger audience. For example floorball, discgolf, wakeboard – disciplines, but the popularity of which could grow in the future.
“The Sport Austria Finals are so important because they are a large motivation event for top sport, mass sport and school sports”, Sport Austria President Hans Niessl outlines the importance of the event. “But I am also enthusiastic about fairness in the competitions and the appreciative handling, all of this can do this and therefore he has to get an even greater status in society.”
With numerous venues in Innsbruck and other Tyrolean locations, the sport was carried to the people on site. At the forecourt of the Landestheater, in the middle of the city center of Innsbruck, the batch for Bob and Skeleton was installed.
The width of the sporting spectrum was also shown in the long run of some competitions. In speed climbing, Kevin Amon was the first Austrian to master the 15-meter-high climbing wall in less than 5 seconds. On the other hand, most of the athletes were: on the first day of the course flight competition in kite flying over three hours in the air.
Athlete also had their share in the sporting performance show: inside with disabilities. They showed their skills at the tournaments in Para-Badminton, para table tennis and para kick boxes.
In order to encourage the viewers: to encourage sporting activities on the inside, there were participation days in the Center of Innsbruck on Friday and Saturday. The place in front of the Tyrolean State Theater turned into a fitness course with several attractive stations. The Austrian lotteries also intensively accompanied the Sport Austria Finals on social media. Numerous videos on the company’s Instagram and Facebook account provide immediate insights into the individual sports.
