It was worthwhile to arrive at Margaret Island in time, as the Spanish and Serbian team started with a great match on Saturday’s game day of the Benu Cup men’s water polo tournament. When our old acquaintance, Milos Milos, scored the winning goal in the last second, there was no room on the sunny stand – who forgot his sunglasses at home, trying to cover the setting day with applause or entry tickets.
Starting from Friday’s goal festival, fans had to be on the lookout if they didn’t want to miss anything-after the Spaniards, the Hungarian national team met Montenegro. The start was similar, again Daniel Angel opened the scorer, with the ball bounced back from the iron holder to the field. However, this time he raised the stake: while Dejan Savics explained to the bench after our defensive disadvantage, the routine Beck reached the Montenegrin goal and finished the turn.
Déja Vu’s feeling was enhanced by Gergő Fekete’s masterpiece, which was led to 4-1, compared to the rival at the beginning of the second quarter. Knowing the Savics teams, of course, we were sure we wouldn’t get anything as a gift, but there should be so much trouble, we worked for every goal. Gergely Burián, for example, surprised Andrics Lazar from an angle that he did not look at the goal, and Krisztián Manhercz fired the ball beside the block without the Montenegrin goalkeeper could not move.
„Everything in it! ” The usual rigmus roared, but for a moment, the national team didn’t save energy for a moment, only after a couple of inaccurate solutions. And because of the many exhibitions, after two quarters, eleven dots were “decorated” with the name of Hungarian players on the scoreboard. We have no complaints for our disabled defense since the beginning of preparation, but it could not be, but it shows Viktor Woolly feats if the Montenegrin can try three times in an attack …
The big break was somewhat delayed, but no one regretted a greeting of the home federal launcher in Rome in 1994 and in 2005 in Montreal for the women’s team, and the applause was well roamed in the sailor. After the festive moments, the gentlemen turned on, Ákos Nagy and Péter Szalai gave the third quarter the basic sound – the rival also asked for time. The woolly magic was impressed, for long minutes they could not overcome the Hungarian goalkeeper’s mind when, in response, Manhercz snapped under the bar.
The team captain’s goalkeeper scored again by the audience, and then Burian and Angel jumped on the fans: he grew above and back over his rival, turning to the final quarter to 13-8. We had to worry about whether the gift T-shirts were shot on the stands or tree during the last break-one of the almost stuck, but bounced back from the branch to its lucky owner.
By the time David Tátrai increased the Hungarian advantage to six goals, the Spanish detachment on the stands was already packed, after all, the essential issues were decided, the Montenegrin could not renew. Not because ours caught the wind from their sails with extremely disciplined defense, blocks and balls-more important than a 15-8 victory is that progress is unquestionable compared to the Overture against the Spaniards.

Krisztián Manhercz, captain of the national team: – We made less mistakes than the Spanish match. This time, the blocks came, the extra defense, most of us did not miss a human handicap, and there was a dynamic in front, which is now characterized by us. This must also happen: neither a big difference or a painful defeat can tilt us. We won with seven goals, but the match against the Serbs will still be tough. Péter Szalai, the shotgun of the national team: – We managed to put together the defense, despite getting a lot of disadvantages – we can tick every goal. A good start gave the dynamics of the match, it was great that we were able to force our game on the Montenegrin from the beginning of the match, maybe I can say we didn’t give them a chance to translate. |

Zsolt Varga: – Due to the new rules, there are many more scored and scored goals in the game, and we have to learn how to handle these matches. Due to multiple shots, there is a bigger burden on the goalkeepers, and teams have to distribute exhibitions to field players. This time, our defense worked well at equal numbers and at a disadvantage, the blocks were formed and we were disciplined.
