normen: absolutely. Adversity often brings out the best in teams. With key players missing, others had to fill their shoes, and they’ve done so admirably. It’s also given the coaches an chance to experiment with different combinations, which can only strengthen the team in the long run.

normen: These matches will indeed be decisive. Plonéour 1 and BCK5 are formidable opponents, but UJP A has momentum on their side. normen: UJP A’s rise is remarkable,especially considering they’ve maintained a consistent level of performance over the past few years. What sets them apart is their ability to integrate new players into the teamdynamic seamlessly. They’ve also been very strategic in their recruitment, bringing in players who complement their existing line-up.
Speaking of integration,you coached the UJP A women’s team to a national bronze medal in 2015.What lessons from that experience could UJP A apply today?
normen: That experience taught us the importance of unity and perseverance. The team we had then was a mix of experienced players and newcomers. The key was to create a cohesive unit where everyone felt valued and responsible for the team’s success. That sense of togetherness is evident in the current UJP A team, and it’s one of their biggest strengths.
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Some critics argue that UJP A’s success lies more in their strong academy system that consistently produces talented players, rather than their coaching or team spirit. Care to respond to that?
normen: [Laughs] That’s a valid point, but I disagree. While the academy system has been invaluable in nurturing talent, it’s the coaching and the team environment that turn those talented individuals into a cohesive, successful team. Great players don’t always make great teams, and that’s where the coaching Staff comes in.They’ve created a culture of hard work, respect, and unity that’s impossible to ignore.
