The tournament will be held from March 11th to 16th, and although it is a Challenger tournament, it is a high-grade lower-level tour tournament where you can earn 175 points if you win.
The tour will host the BNP Paribas Open (USA/Indian Wells, Heard, ATP1000) from March 5th to 16th, and the schedules overlap, but the top players who were eliminated early in the tournament will be competing. As of this, many top players have entered.
Even though it is indeed a Challenger tournament, all the players announced this time will be in the top 100 in the world rankings.
In addition to Nishikori, there are Nishioka Yoshihito, who ranks 62nd in the world, and J. Fonseca (18th place, who won his first Tour title at the previous week’s IEB + Argentina Open (Argentina/Buenos Aires, Clee, ATP250) at the young age of 18. Brazil and others have also entered the program.
There is a possibility that the players will change depending on whether they win in the tournament, including Nishikori and Nishioka, who are scheduled to compete in the BNP Paribas Open, but a high-level, heated battle will likely unfold.
