Udaipur’s Deepankar Chakraborty Runs Up doubles, Singles Final in Trivandrum Masters
Trivandrum, India – Udaipur’s Deepankar Chakraborty, a veteran tennis player, showcased remarkable skill at the World Masters Tennis Competition ITF-200, held in Trivandrum. Competing in the 60-and-over age group, Chakraborty secured a runner-up finish in both the singles and doubles events.
A Dominant Semifinal Performance
Chakraborty’s path to the singles final was marked by a commanding semifinal victory. He edged out former Indian senior team captain Sanjay Kumar in a thrilling super tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Earlier, he’d dispatched the fourth-seeded Sanjay Mehra of Delhi, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.
Doubles Final Disappointment
Unfortunately, Chakraborty’s doubles run ended in the final. The international pairing of Pal Varghese and Jairam proved too strong, defeating Chakraborty and Sanjay Kumar in a hard-fought super tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-3, 12-10. the winning duo was honored with a trophy and prize by Trivandrum’s Shashi Tharoor.
