Shorinji Kempo Success: Carola Earns 1st Dan Black Belt
On February 15, a notable milestone was reached in the ancient martial art of Shorinji Kempo. Vercellese practitioner Carola, a dedicated member of the Casale Monferrato Branch, successfully completed her 1st Dan Junkenshi exam in Como, earning her coveted black belt.
A Path of Growth and Collaboration
Carola’s journey reflects the collaborative spirit of Shorinji Kempo. The discipline emphasizes mutual support, ensuring every practitioner can progress, benefiting from the collective experience. Sensei Enzo Pugno, a 5th Dan Seikenshi, expressed pride in Carola’s achievement, viewing it as an inspiration for other female practitioners at the Casale Monferrato Branch.
Beyond the Belt: A Deeper Meaning
The black belt signifies more than just a color change. Shorinji Kempo, a harmonious and effective discipline, emphasizes personal growth and self-discovery. The rigorous training programme, expanding in complexity with each level, fosters psycho-physical balance and self-defense skills.
The exam, unlike some other disciplines, doesn’t impose strict time constraints. It recognizes the individual’s dedication and commitment to the program. This accomplishment marks not just a step forward but a new chapter, encouraging further exploration and skill development.
