Do you think Oviedo’s depth will be enough to compensate? Remember, they did have a great run in late 2024.
Michel: They showed resilience then, that’s for sure. But this is a derby, a different beast altogether. If their squad depth isn’t backed by tactical cunning, I fear Sporting might capitalize.
And on the other side, Sporting is dealing with Bernal’s absence for the rest of the season. Do you think they’ll look for reinforcements in the winter transfer window?
Michel: It’s almost certain. Losing a player of Bernal’s caliber for such a crucial part of the season is a major setback. Alpen, the Sporting coach, loves playing attacking football, so he’ll likely target a new midfielder who can inject creativity and dynamism into the squad.
Speaking of attacking football, otero and Dubasin have been on fire for Sporting. They seem to have clicked under Alpen’s leadership.
Michel: Absolutely. I’ve been impressed by their understanding and movement. Alpen’s system suits them nicely, allowing them to express themselves and create havoc for opposing defenses. They’ll be a real threat in this derby.

Michel: Honestly, the whole situation is a bit messy. Barcelona’s tactics have been… theatrical, let’s say. The loan deal with Leipzig, the alleged goverment intervention, it’s all a bit much for my liking.
You think they’re trying to play mind games?
Michel: Possibly. But they’ve got to be careful. olmo is a talented player, but he needs stability to flourish. This constant uncertainty can’t be good for his growth.
Michel, what’s your prediction for the Oviedo-Sporting derby?
Michel: Honestly, it’s a toss-up. Both teams have their own challenges, but both are capable of brilliance on their day.
If Oviedo can overcome their injury woes and find a way to neutralize Otero and Dubasin,they stand a chance. But Sporting has momentum,and with Alpen’s tactical knowledge,I edge them slightly.
