Jorge Meré is nearing the end of his recovery from a knee injury that required surgery in May of last year. The former Sporting Gijón standout is diligently rehabilitating from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Asturias.
Under the care of Dr. antonio Maestro, Meré’s recovery is being overseen by Guillermo Rodríguez and Víctor Cervera.He was spotted training at La Toba fields this past Friday, continuing his progress and receiving visits from some familiar faces.
Among those who stopped by were former Sporting teammates Babin and Julio, who now play for Avilés. Edu cortina, also recovering from an injury, joined Meré for the session. Cortina, a free agent after his contract with Mexican powerhouse América ended in January, is eager to find a new club while he completes his rehabilitation. At 27 years old, and with recent experience in La Liga with Cádiz, Cortina is poised for a strong comeback.

Julio: absolutely. There’s a unique bond that forms between players facing similar challenges. They can understand each other’s frustrations, celebrate each other’s wins, and push each other to get better. It’s a powerful support system that can make a huge difference in the recovery process.

Julio: I have no doubt about it. Edu is a talented player with a lot to offer. He’s got the skills, the experience, and the determination to succeed.He just needs the right chance to showcase what he can do.
