the Kapka Kapek Endowment Fund, in collaboration with hockey leagues, is launching a vital initiative to aid children battling hematopoietic disorders. This year’s project, “Drop of Better Hockey,” builds on the success of previous years, which raised CZK 4.5 million. The project’s patron is Radek Duda Jr., who faced leukemia in 2022 and 2023.
Radek Duda: From Rink to Advocate
Radek duda, a respected hockey figure, now mentors youth players. His personal experience with his son’s leukemia diagnosis has fueled his commitment to this cause. He recently shaved his head in a powerful social media video, emphasizing the importance of hope in the face of adversity. “When you hear the word leukemia, hair is the smallest thing you can lose,” he stated. “But what you must not lose is your hope.”
A Personal Journey of Resilience
Radek Duda Jr.’s battle with leukemia in 2022 and 2023 was a grueling ordeal. He underwent a bone marrow transplant and spent over 200 days in the hospital, enduring chemotherapy, radiation, and other complications. His family expresses profound gratitude to the medical staff at Motol University Hospital.
