Archery Thrills Fill the Lens-Gardonnenque Saint-Geniès Sports Hall
The Lens-Gardonnenque Saint-Geniès sports hall buzzed with activity this past weekend, hosting a thrilling archery competition. The local club, in collaboration with the Gard departmental committee, expertly managed the logistics and welcomed participants from across the region.
Saturday saw the Gard departmental youth challenge, attracting 68 young archers aged 11 to 21. This event served as a crucial stepping stone in determining the club rankings for the season. The podium was dominated by archers from Manduel (793 points), saint-Christol (775 points), and Pont-Saint-Esprit (729 points), showcasing the fierce competition within the department.
Sunday marked the official qualifying competition for the French Championships, drawing an extraordinary 97 participants eager to demonstrate their precision and composure.
The Saint-Geniès club members shone brightly, securing numerous podium finishes across various categories. In the classic bow division, Élise Barthelot claimed victory in the U18 Women’s category, while Karine Mosettich triumphed in the S2 Women’s category. Grégory Barthelot secured second place in the S2 Men’s category,and Catherine Loubeau achieved a commendable third place in the S3 Women’s category.
The compound bow division witnessed Quentin Barthelot’s impressive frist-place finish in the U18 men’s category, and Jim Tran-Van’s bronze medal in the S3 men’s category.
The medal ceremony was presided over by Véronique Poignet-Senger, Mayor of Montignargues and President of the Lens-Gardonnenque syndicate, alongside Karen Jouve and Sarah Tournemine, Deputy Mayors of Saint-Geniès-de-Malgoirès.
The event was expertly officiated by two federal referees, Angel Martin and Kévin Mouzat, with aspiring referee Christian Baboulène joining them on Sunday.The club’s current leadership comprises President Karine Mosettich, Treasurer Candice Brosse, and Secretary Grégory Barthelot.
