The 2024 Ibiza Sports Awards, organized by the Island Council’s Sports Department, have announced their esteemed winners and special honorees. This year’s selection recognizes not only extraordinary athletic achievements but also the tireless dedication of individuals who have shaped the sporting landscape of Ibiza.
The jury, comprised of representatives from sports federations and the Ibiza Council, carefully reviewed nominations to determine the recipients of these prestigious awards.
Special Recognition for outstanding Contributions
This year, the Special Mentions highlight the invaluable contributions of several individuals and organizations:
Association of Sportsmen with Disabilities of Ibiza and Formentera (ADDIF): ADDIF is being recognized for its unwavering commitment to inclusivity, fostering the participation of people with disabilities in the world of sports.
Penya Esportiva sant Jordi: Celebrating a remarkable 75 years as its establishment in 1949, Penya Esportiva Sant Jordi is a pillar of the ibiza sporting community.
Marcela Ribas Cano: A lifelong devotee to synchronized swimming,Marcela Ribas Cano has dedicated over two decades to leading the Club Esportiu Sincro Eivissa,nurturing talent and promoting this graceful sport.
Miguel tur Torres: For over 16 years, Miguel Tur Torres has been a driving force in cycling, leading the federative extension in the Pitiüses and serving as an assembly member of the Cycling Federation of the Balearic islands.
Vicente Bufí Tur: Vicente Bufí Tur’s passion for football has spanned both local and international arenas. As the insular delegate of the Balearic Football Federation, he has been instrumental in promoting the sport’s growth.
Paco Quirós (Posthumous): A true pioneer of athletics in Ibiza, Paco Quirós dedicated his life to the sport, participating in countless popular races and inspiring generations of runners.
Teodoro Blázquez (Posthumous): Teodoro Blázquez’s legacy lies in his unwavering commitment to judo, tirelessly promoting and elevating the sport in Ibiza and the Balearic Islands.
Julia Cano (Posthumous): A trailblazer for women in sports, Julia Cano broke barriers as a gymnastics instructor in schools and institutes. Her vision extended beyond gymnastics, as she actively fostered the development of volleyball, basketball, ballet, and gymnastics teams and clubs across Ibiza.
