Vikingos set Sights on Championship Glory in Upcoming Playoffs
The Vikingos basketball club is gearing up for a thrilling playoff run, aiming to secure the Primera “A” championship title for the 2024 season. club president Daniel Vaca unveiled the team roster during a celebratory event marking the club’s 17th anniversary.
Training sessions,led by French coach Cyril Laurent,are in full swing,with the team diligently preparing for the best-of-three series that kicks off on January 13,2025,at the Guadalquivir Coliseum. The rigorous schedule, running from monday to Friday, excluding holiday breaks, aims to ensure the team peaks in top form for the opening match.
The Vikings will face stiff competition from three formidable opponents: La Salle, P-tariquia, and Libertad.The initial stage will see all four teams compete in a round-robin format to determine seeding for the semifinals. The top two teams will then advance to a best-of-three series,with the victor claiming a spot in the championship finals,also played in a best-of-three format.
Vaca announced that the club is actively pursuing two Argentinian reinforcements, a move endorsed by coach Laurent. These additions, expected to finalize within days, will bolster the team’s roster and provide valuable experience as they strive for championship glory.
“We’ve secured the services of Coach laurent, who is already working diligently with the team,” Vaca stated. “We’re now focused on bringing in two Argentinian players to fill key positions identified by the coach. We hope to finalize their contracts soon so they can join the team in Tarija and contribute to our playoff campaign.”
The Vikingos are persistent to make a strong start in the playoffs, aiming to accumulate points from the first game and build momentum towards the championship. Their ultimate goal is to reclaim the Tarija basketball crown and add another chapter to their illustrious history.
