While he once dedicated himself to the world of professional baseball, spending five years honing his skills with the New York Mets, a higher calling ultimately led him to a different kind of field – the ministry of gospel music.
Born in Maywood, Illinois, on December 20, 1983, Dulaney’s talents were evident from a young age. He excelled both as a singer and an athlete, eventually being drafted by the Mets straight out of community college in 2001. However, amidst the rigorous training and competitive atmosphere, Dulaney felt a stirring within him, a pull towards something greater.
This inner voice led him to accept an invitation to tour and perform background vocals for Grammy-winning gospel artist smokie Norful. This experience proved to be a pivotal moment, solidifying Dulaney’s commitment to using his musical gifts to serve God.
As then, Dulaney has shared the stage with a constellation of gospel luminaries, including vanessa Bell Armstrong, Jessica Reedy, Maurette Clark-Brown, Michelle Williams, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Dr. Bobby Jones,Ernest Pugh,TRIN-I-TEE 5:7,Nicole and David Binion,Tye Tribbett,and Donnie McClurkin. His powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics have resonated with audiences worldwide,leading to appearances on prominent platforms like BET’s “Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel,” TBN’s “Praise the Lord,” and Atlanta Live.
Dulaney’s dedication to his craft has earned him recognition within the gospel music community, including three nominations for the 2012 Stellar awards. Today,he continues to minister through song,serving faithfully at his church in Chicago,Illinois.
Beyond his musical accomplishments, Dulaney finds his greatest joy in his family. He is married to Kenyetta Stone-Dulaney, and together they cherish their son, Todd Dulaney Jr. For Dulaney, the ultimate aspiration is to live a life devoted to God, dwelling in His presence and fulfilling His divine purpose.

Welcome back, sports fans! Today, we have a very special guest joining us, someone who’s walked a unique path, transitioning from the world of professional baseball to the inspiring world of gospel music. Please join me in welcoming Todd Dulaney!
Todd, thank you so much for being here. Your story is truly remarkable. Five years with the New York Mets, drafted straight out of community college – that’s a dream for countless young athletes. What was it like living that dream?
It was an amazing experiance, no doubt. The intensity, the camaraderie, the thrill of competition – it’s something special. But I’ll be honest, even amidst all that, I always felt a pull towards something more, something deeper.
That “something more” led you to gospel music and ultimately, to leaving baseball behind. That must have been a arduous decision.
It wasn’t easy,I won’t lie. Giving up on a childhood dream, walking away from a career many would envy – it was a leap of faith, a testament to my belief in God’s plan for my life.
Can you tell us a bit about that turning point? What was the catalyst that pushed you to embrace your musical calling?
It was a combination of things. Touring with Smokie Norful, witnessing the power of gospel music firsthand, connecting with people on a spiritual level through song – it all solidified my purpose. It wasn’t just about the music; it was about serving God, touching hearts, and spreading His message.
And you haven’t looked back since. Sharing the stage with legends like vanessa Bell Armstrong, Donnie McClurkin, and Tye Tribbett – that’s an amazing accomplishment.
It’s humbling, truly. To be recognized by your peers, to stand alongside such incredible voices, it’s a blessing. But my focus has always been on the message, on using my voice to uplift, to inspire, to bring people closer to God.
You mentioned “serving God” – faith plays a central role in your life and your music. Do you ever feel a conflict between your faith and the competitive world of professional music?
Not at all. Actually,my faith strengthens me. It’s my foundation,my guiding light. For me, music is a form of worship, a way to express my gratitude to God and share His love with others.
Now, let’s get a little controversial.
Some might argue that transitioning from baseball to gospel music is a drastic change, almost a contradiction. As someone who’s excelled in both worlds, what would you say to that?
I see it as a natural progression, a testament to the power of faith and the diversity of human experience. My athletic background taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of perseverance – qualities that are equally valuable in my musical journey.
And what’s next for Todd Dulaney? What goals are you still chasing?
My journey is far from over. I wont to continue touching lives through music, spreading the message of hope and love.And, of course, being a faithful husband and father to my amazing family.
