Pierre tavano’s Redemption: A New Chapter with ASA Blois
In the heart of the forest Arena, home to the Alliance Sport Alsace (ASA), a story of resilience, friendship, and basketball unfolds. Pierre Tavano, the newly appointed assistant coach of the Bas-Rhin team, is set to face his former rivals, ADA Blois, in a clash that reignites memories of triumph and heartbreak.
For Tavano, this matchup is more than just a game—it’s a reminder of a career marked by highs and lows, personal tragedy, and an unwavering passion for the sport.
A Memorable Victory and a Bittersweet Farewell
Tavano’s last encounter with ADA Blois on may 13, 2022, remains etched in his memory. As head coach of Tours MB, he led his team to a victory against Blois on the final day of the Pro B season. Despite the win, Tours MB was relegated, becoming the best-relegated team in history with an impressive 14 victories.
“I remember that last match where we won against ADA, who then whent up,” Tavano recalls. “Not all teams played at their best that day,but I prefer to focus on the positives. If we had stayed up, I believe Tours MB would still be in Pro B today.”
The aftermath of that season saw Tavano move to Hyères-Toulon, but his tenure was short-lived, ending after just 16 matches. Then, in March 2023, tragedy struck when Tavano lost his 5-year-old son.“A drama,” he calls it, one that tested his strength and resolve.
A Lifeline from Vincent Collet
Amidst the darkness, a lifeline emerged.Vincent Collet, Tavano’s longtime friend and former colleague, reached out in early 2024, offering him a role as a video assistant for the French national team during the february international window.“It wasn’t easy, but it did me a lot of good,” Tavano admits. “it helped me get back on my feet and prove to myself—and to French basketball—that I was ready to move forward.”
This experience paved the way for his next chapter. In July 2024, Nebojsa “Trumo” Bogavac, ASA’s head coach and a close friend, invited Tavano to join his staff.
A New Beginning with ASA
Under Bogavac’s leadership, ASA has shown promise, climbing from last place to playoff contention in just a few months. With Tavano’s expertise in video analysis, the team has achieved a balanced record of eight wins and eight losses, securing a respectable 10th place despite having the 18th-largest budget in the division.
“Trumo is a true friend,” Tavano says. “We’ve worked together before, and it’s a pleasure to collaborate with him again. The team is competitive, and while we’ve had some close losses, we’re on the right track.”
Facing ADA Blois: A Test of Resilience
As ASA prepares to host ADA Blois on Friday, December 20, Tavano knows the challenge ahead. “Blois has a strong team,” he notes. “They’ve had a recent dip but are coming off two wins, including a big victory in Roanne.we’ll need to prevent them from gaining momentum.”
The matchup promises to be a thrilling contest, with Tavano’s tactical acumen and ASA’s determination to climb the standings on full display.
A Story of Redemption and renewal
Pierre Tavano’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance. From the highs of coaching success to the depths of personal loss, he has emerged stronger, ready to write a new chapter with ASA.
