## Neuville-aux-Bois Sports and Cultural Association Celebrates Success and Honors Dedication
The Neuville-aux-Bois sports and cultural association recently convened for its annual general meeting, showcasing a vibrant and thriving community hub. Established in 1911 by the Cercles Jules-Ferry, the association has become deeply ingrained in the fabric of Neuville life, offering a diverse range of activities through its seven sections: basketball, judo, hiking, cycle tourism, leisure and culture, cycling, and Japanese fencing.
A collaborative leadership approach, implemented over the past two years, has fostered strong bonds and mutual support among the various sections. This collaborative spirit has yielded extraordinary results, with the basketball group experiencing such overwhelming popularity that it had to turn away 70 membership applications due to reaching its capacity of 250 members. Judo has also seen a surge in participation, with a 7% increase in enrollment. The cycling section hosted its inaugural Christmas market, and the Japanese fencing group introduced a kendo course, further expanding its offerings.
The meeting also marked a leadership transition within the hiking section, with Martine Rousseau assuming the role of president from Jean-françois Duchemin. Looking ahead, the association is gearing up for the federal international cycle tourism week, scheduled to take place in Orléans from August 3rd to 10th. Undoubtedly, a highlight of 2024 will be the passage of the olympic flame through Neuville-aux-Bois on Wednesday, July 10th, a momentous occasion for the community.
During the meeting, Mayor Patrick Hardouin took the possibility to commend Jean-Claude Chanteau for his exceptional contributions to the association. Chanteau, a dedicated member of the cycle touring club sence 1984 and its treasurer since 1989, was lauded for his unwavering commitment, reliability, and good humor. In recognition of his outstanding service, Chanteau received a diploma and a bronze medal for his dedication to youth, sports, and community involvement.

Thriving on Teamwork: A Chat with Former Cycle Tourism Champion, Henri Dubois, about the Neuville-aux-Bois Sports and Cultural Association
Welcome back sports fans! Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Henri Dubois, a retired cyclist and former national champion in cycle tourism. Henri has deep ties to the Neuville-aux-Bois community, having grown up participating in the very same sports and cultural association we’re discussing today.

Henri: it’s a pleasure to be here. It’s always great to talk about Neuville and the amazing things our association accomplishes.
Let’s jump right in. The recent annual general meeting showcased some amazing growth and achievements for the association. What are your thoughts on this collaborative leadership approach that’s been implemented over the past two years?
Henri: I think it’s absolutely fantastic. For years, I saw some silos forming between the different sections. Each doing its own thing. This new approach has really broken those barriers down, and you can see it in the results. Basketball hitting capacity shows the positive impact. People want to be part of something vibrant and supportive.
[Host]: Absolutely! The judo membership increase is another great example. And the cycling section hosting a Christmas market is a creative way to engage the community wider than just members.
Henri: Exactly! It’s all about creating a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
[Host]: Now, we can’t ignore the exciting news about the Olympic flame passing through Neuville-aux-Bois in July 2024. What do you think this will mean for the community and the association itself?
Henri: This is huge! It’s going to put Neuville on the map nationally. The energy and excitement will be palpable. It’s a tremendous chance to showcase what makes our community so special – our spirit, our passion for sport, and our commitment to coming together. I bet we’ll see even more people interested in joining the association after that.

Henri: And let’s not forget the dedication of people like Jean-Claude Chanteau,who was recognized at the meeting for his incredible contributions. Individuals like him are the backbone of the association.
