Modica‍ Gears Up⁣ for Fencing ‍Festivities ‍adn Ministerial Visit

Modica is preparing to welcome Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea⁣ Abodi, on December ⁣28th, ‌2024, for ⁣a day dedicated⁢ to celebrating the city’s ⁣renowned fencing tradition.Mayor maria Monisteri announced the visit, highlighting its ‍importance for Modica.

“This is a momentous ‍occasion for ⁣our ⁤city,” stated Monisteri. “We will ⁤be honoring Modica Fencing, a local ‌institution celebrated globally, as it marks its 40th anniversary. This milestone coincides with the remarkable achievement of one of their students, Giorgio avola, who secured⁣ Olympic​ gold in‌ London 2012.”

Minister abodi’s itinerary includes a visit to the PalaScherma at 12:30‌ pm,where he will assess the progress‌ of ongoing renovation ⁤and expansion projects. ‌Following this, he ​will⁤ engage‌ in a private meeting with mayors and administrators⁢ from the twelve municipalities ‌within the Ragusa province at palazzo San Domenico.

The afternoon will culminate in ‍a series of events at ‍the Castello ⁤dei Conti. At 3 pm, ​Minister‌ Abodi will attend the closing‌ ceremony of the complimentary 2024 school course. Subsequently, at 4:30 pm, the Castello dei‍ conti ⁣will host the ⁤official 40th-anniversary celebration of Modica Fencing, featuring an address by Minister Abodi.
