Judo Avisio: A Chat with Sensei Marco Rossi
Welcome back, fight fans, to another insightful interview! Today, we’re joined by the esteemed Sensei Marco Rossi, a decorated Judoka with over two decades of experience on the mat, to discuss the recent annual meeting of the Judo Avisio association. Sensei Rossi, thanks for joining us.
Sensei Rossi: It’s a pleasure to be here.
moderator: The Judo Avisio association has clearly had a successful year, reporting high member engagement and the continuation of their unique multi-faceted approach. What are your thoughts on their balance of Laughter Yoga, meditation, and Judo education?
Sensei Rossi: It’s fantastic to see an association recognizing that Judo is more than just throws and submissions. These complementary practices – laughter yoga for boosting morale and releasing tension, meditation for developing focus and mental fortitude, and of course, Judo for building physical strength and discipline – create a holistic approach to personal development. In my experience, a balanced mind and body are fundamental to achieving success both on and off the mat.
Moderator: Vittorio Nocentini, the President of Judo Avisio, emphasized the importance of approaching challenges with grace and serenity. do you believe this philosophy translates to the competitive world of Judo?
Sensei Rossi: Absolutely! Judo teaches us that while victory is a goal, respecting oneself and one’s opponent is paramount.Losing a match can be incredibly difficult, but learning to accept defeat with grace and identify areas for enhancement is crucial for growth. This mindset transcends the Dojo and benefits all aspects of life.
Moderator: Judo Avisio faces a projected budget deficit in the coming year. How critical is financial stability for organizations like this, especially when they’re focused on community engagement?
Sensei Rossi: It’s incredibly crucial. Funding allows Judo Avisio to offer these programs, maintain its facilities, and reach a wider audience. Without financial stability, they risk limiting their outreach and impact. We need to support organizations like Judo Avisio, not only for the benefits they bring to individuals but also for the positive contributions they make to the community as a whole.
Moderator:
Many Judo practitioners see the sport primarily through a competitive lens. How would you respond to someone who argues that spirit, serenity, and community engagement are secondary to winning?
Sensei Rossi:
While competition is a driving force in Judo, it’s vital to remember that the journey is as important as the destination. True mastery in Judo involves cultivating mental strength, physical prowess, and a deep respect for the art itself. Focusing solely on winning can lead to tunnel vision and missed opportunities for personal growth. Judo Avisio’s approach reminds us that the path to self-improvement is multifaceted and rewarding in countless ways.
Moderator: Sensei Rossi, thank you for sharing your invaluable insights today. We hope your words inspire Judo enthusiasts and anyone seeking holistic well-being.
