In a vibrant display of skill and camaraderie, the Châteauvillain judo club wrapped up the year with an unforgettable session on December 13. The event was a perfect blend of rigorous training, heartfelt gift-giving, and a convivial aperitif dinner, marking a festive end to the year for the club’s members.

The highlight of the day was an intensive training course led by Jacques Merrant, a 6th dan black belt from the Independent College of Traditional Judo and Martial Arts (Cijam). Open to all club members, the session drew in 75 enthusiastic judokas, who participated from Friday through Sunday noon. Adding a personal touch, relatives of the judokas were invited to join in a short initiation on the tatamis, often pairing up as parent and child.

As the training concluded, the club extended an invitation to all participants to gather for an aperitif dinner right next to the tatami mats. This gathering provided a perfect possibility for members to share a moment of conviviality, strengthening the bonds within the community. In the spirit of the approaching end-of-year holidays, the club embraced its role as Santa Claus, gifting each member a sports bag adorned with the club’s logo.

Looking ahead, the Châteauvillain judo club has exciting plans for 2025. The next training course is scheduled for January 25 and 26, featuring Didier Veillet, a 7th dan black belt from Cijam. Additionally, the club will host a lottery event on March 22, 2025, in the village hall, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and games commencing at 8 p.m. The season will culminate in a regional competition on May 17, 2025, in Recey-sur-Ource.
