Our ranking of the top 25 players was meticulously crafted by a panel of 38 football experts from the OneFootball editorial team. Each member compiled their personal top 25, with the first-ranked player receiving 25 points, the second 24, and so on. In the event of a tie, the player with the higher unique ranking secured the higher position.

He could dictate the tempo of the game, break lines with pinpoint accuracy, and create opportunities out of seemingly nothing.
Moderator: Absolutely, his ability to effortlessly control the midfield was mesmerising. You both played a vital role in Barcelona’s tiki-taka era, a style of play that dominated world football. How crucial was Iniesta’s role in that system?
Xavi: It simply wouldn’t have worked without him. Andrés was the heart and soul of tiki-taka. He embodied the philosophy perfectly—keeping posession, moving the ball quickly, and creating triangles all over the pitch. His ability to find space, recieve the ball under pressure, and execute pinpoint passes was instrumental in our success.
Moderator: We saw Iniesta shine not just at club level but also on the international stage, helping Spain to win Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, and Euro 2012. What was his strength in a national team context?
Xavi: His adaptability was key. While he excelled in the tiki-taka system at Barca,he could adapt his game to suit the national team’s needs. He was equally comfortable playing alongside different midfield partners and adjusting his style to different tactical approaches. His leadership on the pitch, his calmness under pressure, and his ability to motivate his teammates were invaluable assets.
