The disappointment was particularly great at Zulte Waregem. Promotion to the Jupiler Pro League was the big goal of this season, but the club did not succeed. Not directly and not via the play-offs.
Ruud Vormer’s disappointment has already been somewhat washed away, as he indicated in an interview with De Zondag. He also points out that it was not the play-offs where things went wrong for Essevee.
“We simply gave it away in the regular competition, with that 0 out of 12 against KV Oostende and Franc Borains, especially,” says the Dutchman.
Another year under contract
“And yet we still participated at the end, but those play-offs… Still difficult, you know. Lommel was simply better. I also think they will make it on Sunday against Deinze, but it will again be about details.”
The ex-Club Brugge player still has doubts about his future, at the age of 36. “I’m still under contract for another year, right,” he says cautiously, laughing. “I’m still looking forward to it, let’s put it that way. But I still have to think about it, yes.”
