Is this the next rejection for FC Bayern? Zinédine Zidane has been asked whether he could become the coach of the German record champions in the future. The French world star replied to Sky on the sidelines of the Formula 1 race in Miami: “No, I will watch the game.”

It was not entirely clear whether his “no” actually categorically ruled out a possible engagement in Munich. Perhaps it was just a negative reaction to the question from the reporter with whom he had previously spoken about the upcoming duel between FCB and Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The fact is, however, that the short clip made the rounds in no time.

Zidane was also asked by the Bild newspaper about the rumors about himself and FC Bayern. A companion immediately blocked the question.

Eberl indicates: No further contact with Zidane

The game that Zidane was talking about takes place on Wednesday between the record champions and his former club Real Madrid. The first leg in Munich ended 2-2, the second leg will take place in Madrid – where Zidane delighted fans for many years as a player and coach.

The 51-year-old has been repeatedly linked for weeks with the coaching job at FC Bayern that will become available in the summer. According to information from SPORT1, the former world champion has never been a specific topic for the FCB bosses.

The exclusion criterion was always the apparent lack of language skills. In 2022, Zidane stated that he did not have a complete command of the English language. However, Bavaria’s sports director had declared this to be a basic requirement for a non-German-speaking coach to be hired.

On Sunday, a few hours before Zidane’s appearance on the sidelines of the F1 race, Eberl emphasized for the second time that he did not know whether Zidane spoke English. He once again suggested that there was no contact with the Frenchman.

So far, FCB has specifically approached Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick in its ongoing search for a coach. All three had decided to stay with their current employers.
