Young French Judoka Shines at National Championships: Isis Rossard Achieves Silver Medal

It was one of the last national meetings for young French judokas. Direction Ceyrat in Puy-de-Dôme for the French second division cadet championships (reserved for first year cadets) and hopefuls, for a weekend which will have brought together no less than 2,300 fighters over the two days and exceptional logistics ( two rooms and sixteen competition surfaces).

Among them, thirty-nine Tourangeaux had qualified for this event: twenty for the French second division championships, nineteen for the hopefuls. Thirteen clubs from the department were present, some with a strong delegation such as US Électrique Avoine-Beaumont, Union Judo Touraine Métropole 37, Chanceaux Judo, or JC Descartes.

A very committed young judokate

A weekend generally without for the young people of Tours. The only brightening during these two days came from Isis Rossard, who finished vice-champion of France hopefuls in -40 kg. The JC Descartes fighter is still only 14 years old, having been born at the end of 2009.

The season ends superbly for this judoka who is very invested in her passion – she is also a departmental sports commissioner – since she participated in the French first division championships at the end of March. An event where she was beaten only by the future French champion (and national holder for the European Championships) and the future bronze medalist.

This Sunday, Isis Rossard came out first in the groups with two victories, then won her first two fights in the table. In the final, Tourangelle lost against a fighter from the Chaponost club (Rhône), who had finished in bronze during the French first division championships.

A silver medal that allows you to dream bigger for next season.
