Walking Football Portugal: 14 Tournaments Scheduled for Season with 72 Teams and 850 Athletes

Walking Football, a rapidly growing sport aimed at being played by seniors, has a new calendar on the agenda, with 14 tournaments to be played until the end of the season, in June.

Walking Football Portugal (WFP) currently has 72 teams registered, with a total of 850 athletes (65% men and 35% women) and an average age of 69 years.

The first tournament starts this Thursday, February 8th, at Urban Soccer (Grupo Desportivo Direito, Alto da Boavista, Parque Florestal de Monsanto, in Lisbon), which features the following teams: Loures, Rio de Mouro, Alcântara, Santa Clara, Odivelas, Lisbon Casuals, Torres Vedras, Portela, Bobadela and Nova Atena.

The next 13 scheduled tournaments, to be played between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm are:
Montijo: February 21st.
Funchal (international tournament): March 16
Castelo Branco: March 22nd
Cacia: April 5
Portela (Loures): April 13
Vinhais: April 27th
Santo André: April 30th
Loures: May 3rd
Oliveira do Bairro: May 9th
Guimarães and III Walking Football Congress: May 11th
Aljustrel: May 18th (Saturday)
Paredes (North): June 12
Rio Maior (Final Tournament): June.
