Vincent Kompany will probably be the new coach of FC Bayern. The fans are critical of the decision. But there are also advocates.
Munich – Vincent Kompany is supposed to fix it. After what feels like an eternity, FC Bayern has apparently found a successor for Thomas Tuchel. Reports leaked out during the week that the Belgian was coming to Säbener Strasse. On Saturday afternoon, English and German media agreed: The Munich team have also reportedly reached an agreement with FC Burnley regarding the transfer fee.

The official announcement is still missing, but is expected to come during the week. While prominent names such as Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick (all of whom turned down Bayern) were discussed at Säbener Straße at the beginning of the search for a coach, Kompany will ultimately be a solution that was not necessarily expected.
The Belgian is still at the beginning of his coaching career and was not particularly successful last season. With Burnley, the 38-year-old was relegated from the Premier League as second-to-last with only 24 points in 38 games. A relegation coach for the German record champions? Not all fans on X (formerly Twitter) can understand that.

But the whole truth is that Kompany led Burnley to promotion to the Premier League. The Belgian also played for a long time under Pep Guardiola, was able to learn from the Spaniard and is considered extremely talented in the scene. As a reminder, Xabi Alonso also had little experience before his move to Bayer Leverkusen and is now one of the hottest stocks on the market.
Guardiola himself also congratulated Bayern on their new coach and said of Kompany: “I have the highest regard for his work, his personality, his knowledge of the game and the way he deals with the media.” Some fans also see this on X so.
