Either the selected candidates did not want to take on the position, which has been affected by high fluctuation in recent years – or there was no consensus in the record champion’s management circle.
The long and complicated search for a successor to Tuchel now appears to be coming to an end.
According to several media reports, including The Guardian, Vincent Kompany is said to be at the top of the Munich team’s list. A quite surprising name, Kompany doesn’t have the best track record in terms of sport. Although the 38-year-old achieved confident promotion to the Premier League with FC Burnley, which he took over in 2022 after two years in Anderlecht, he was immediately relegated. With 24 points from 38 games, the “Clarets” only finished second to last last season.

Because the former professional from Hamburger SV and Manchester City (four championship titles) managed to turn a team that had played staidly for years into a team that suddenly knew how to impress with the ball, Kompany quickly made a name for himself as a coach. Which was apparently also registered in Munich.
According to reports, talks between Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl and Burnley’s owner Alan Pace are already well advanced. However, FC Bayern would have to pay a transfer fee to the north of England, as Kompany signed a long-term contract until 2028 after promotion. Negotiations on the amount of the sum are said to have already taken place this Wednesday. In Munich, they hope to seal the deal by the end of this week.
